Broken spring? We replace torsion and extension springs same-day with a 2-year break guarantee — double the industry standard.
Your garage door uses one of two spring systems to counterbalance the weight of the door. Understanding which type you have helps you know what to expect during the repair.
Mounted on a metal shaft above the door opening, torsion springs use torque to lift the door. They are the most common type in modern residential garage doors and are considered safer and longer-lasting than extension springs. When a torsion spring breaks, the door will not open and you may hear a loud bang from the garage.
Mounted on either side of the door track, extension springs stretch and contract to lift the door. They are more common in older homes and on lighter single-car doors. Extension springs are under significant tension and can be dangerous when they break if safety cables are not installed.
Strongman Garage Doors repairs and replaces both types. We carry the most common spring sizes on the truck so most jobs are completed in a single visit.
Not sure if your spring is broken? Look for these common signs:
Safety note: Do not attempt to open or close a garage door with a broken spring. The door is extremely heavy without spring support and can cause serious injury. Call a professional.
Most garage door companies offer a 1-year warranty on springs. Strongman offers double.
If your spring breaks within 2 years of our installation, we replace it free of charge — parts and labor included. No fine print. No service call fee. We come back and fix it at no cost to you.
We use high-cycle springs rated for 15,000–25,000 cycles, which means your new springs are built to last 7–12 years of normal residential use.
A broken garage door spring is not something you can wait on. Your car may be stuck in the garage, your home may be unsecured, or you simply cannot get through your day without a functioning door.
That is why Strongman offers same-day spring replacement for most calls. We carry the most common torsion and extension spring sizes on the truck, so there is no waiting for parts to be ordered. In most cases, the repair takes about 45–90 minutes from arrival.
