Opener not working? We service all major brands — LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, and more. Same-day diagnosis and repair with upfront pricing.

Brands We Service

Strongman Garage Doors repairs every major brand of residential garage door opener. No matter what brand or model you have, we can diagnose and fix the problem.

  • LiftMaster — The most widely installed professional-grade opener brand in North America. We service all LiftMaster chain drive, belt drive, and wall-mount models.
  • Chamberlain — The consumer brand from the same manufacturer as LiftMaster. We repair all Chamberlain models including WiFi-enabled and MyQ-compatible units.
  • Genie — Known for screw drive and belt drive models. We service all Genie openers including Aladdin Connect smart models.
  • Craftsman — Commonly found in older homes. We repair and maintain all Craftsman opener models.
  • Linear / Marantec / Overhead Door — Less common brands that we also service. If you have an opener, we can fix it.

Common Opener Issues We Fix

Garage door openers are electromechanical devices with multiple components that can fail over time. Here are the most common problems we see:

  • Motor runs but door does not move — Usually a stripped gear, broken drive sprocket, or disconnected trolley. The motor is working but the mechanical connection to the door has failed.
  • Opener does not respond at all — Could be a dead circuit board, blown capacitor, faulty transformer, or a simple wiring issue. We diagnose the root cause before recommending a fix.
  • Door reverses immediately after closing — Typically a safety sensor misalignment, a force setting that needs adjustment, or a travel limit issue. We calibrate the sensors and settings to factory specs.
  • Grinding or clicking noises — Worn gears, a failing motor, or a chain/belt that needs tension adjustment. These issues get worse over time and can lead to a complete failure if not addressed.
  • Remote or keypad not working — Could be a dead battery, a unit that needs reprogramming, or a failed receiver board in the opener. We troubleshoot all remote and keypad issues.
  • Opener light stays on or blinks — Most openers use blinking lights as error codes. We read the codes and diagnose the underlying issue.

When to Repair vs. Replace Your Opener

Not every opener problem requires a brand-new unit. We will always tell you honestly whether a repair makes sense or if replacement is the better investment.

Repair makes sense when:

  • The opener is less than 10–12 years old
  • The issue is a single component (gear, board, sensor)
  • The repair cost is less than 50% of a new opener
  • The opener still meets your needs (power, features, noise level)

Replacement may be better when:

  • The opener is 15+ years old and multiple components are failing
  • The repair cost approaches the price of a new unit
  • You want modern features like WiFi control, battery backup, or quieter operation
  • The motor is burned out or the housing is damaged

If replacement is the right call, we offer a full range of opener installation options including our belt drive openers with a lifetime warranty.
